After months of no international travel, summer holidays are back in full swing with Brits being able to travel around amber list countries without quarantining if they’re double vaccinated.

However, 65% of Brits are planning to give international summer holidays a miss this year.

Citing cancellation worries, it means many will be living life in the shade at home, instead of fun in the sun abroad.

According to a poll of 2,000 adults, travel restrictions have meant 33% of sun worshiping Brits have not had a summer holiday for two years.

With Brits spending less time in the sunlight this summer becoming a cause for concern, part of the nation could be facing a vitamin D dip.

One brand believes that ICE CREAM could be the solution this summer.

Wheyhey, the UK’s first sugar-free ice cream, is testing a trio of new ice cream flavours that have been enriched with the sunshine vitamin – providing your recommended daily allowance in one scoop.

The three flavours will pay homage to the nations favourite summer holiday destinations – Spain (21%), Greece (12%) and Italy (12%).

The first from the trio set to launch is Sangria, a take on the fruity drink holiday go-ers are famous for sipping on in the Spanish summer sun.

Next, inspired by Italian sweet treats – Tiramisu! The serve imitates the traditional dessert containing crunchy, Italian cookies called ladyfingers, rippled with coffee liqueur, and sweetened with cocoa powder.

Brits can expect a light and fluffy coffee flavoured serve, rippled with rich coffee sauce and a whipped cream core.

Finally, if your idea of holiday goals is eating baklava in Greece – this tub is for you. A smooth and creamy serve spiked with honey and walnuts seeded throughout.

Dan Kaminski, Head of Innovation at Wheyhey, commented “Our motto is to live outrageously well – even if you plan on giving summer holidays abroad a miss this year!”

“With Brits spending more time indoors than usual this past year, we are looking into how we develop an ice cream that is not only sugar-free and enriched with vitamin D – but also bring Brits the taste of summer.”

As the products have only entered initial stages of development, a price nor timeline has been set defining when it will become available in stores.
